Single-top production in hadron-hadron collisions

 

In collaboration with E. Laenen (NIKHEF), B. Harris and Z. Sullivan (both Argonne National Laboratory), L. Phaf and J. van der Heide (both students at NIKHEF) we started to calculate perturbative corrections to the production of a single top in hadron-hadron collisions. This proccess allows the measurement of the CKM-matrix element V_tb and the top charged current coupling. Furthermore, since the top is produced through a left-handed interaction, single top production is well-suited for polarization studies. At a first stage we calculated the LO amplitudes for single-top production including the top decay. This allowed us to compare the narrow width approximation with the complete calculation (hep-ph/0003318). We further obtained predictions on angular correlations between various decay products.


To implement NLO-corrections we extended the dipole formalism of Catani and Seymour to heavy fermions (hep-ph/0102207).
